Governor Doyle Receives Award

This National Easter Seals Award is given annually to an elected official in recognition of efforts that have had a significant impact on the quality of life for persons with disabilities.  The award may be given for an ongoing commitment to addressing issues affecting people with disabilities or for one specifically noteworthy accomplishment. 

The Governor was nominated for his commitment in his first term to the “Money Follows the Person program” encouraging community based service options for adults with disabilities and older adults with the funding to provide successful community supports.  In addition, he was  recognized in his efforts to expand FamilyCare providing an entitlement for all adults with disabilities and older adults as a major ground-breaking effort to eliminate the waiting list for services in Wisconsin.
